Bella Ramsey


Isabella May Ramsey is an English actress. She made her professional acting debut as the young noblewoman Lyanna Mormont in the HBO fantasy television series Game of Thrones; she is also known for playing the leading role of Mildred Hubble in the 2017 CBBC television series The Worst Witch. She is currently the voice of Hilda in the Peabody Award nominated critically acclaimed Netflix series from Luke Pearson Hilda.

Early life

Isabella May Ramsey was born in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire in 2003. Her father, Alex, is a businessman. Ramsey completes her schooling online through InterHigh School. Ramsey underwent Believer's baptism in 2018.
She started acting as a hobby at the age of four, through Stagecoach Theatre Arts' Loughborough branch, which she attended for seven years. Ramsey then went to The Television Workshop, where she began auditioning for professional jobs.

Career

From 2016 to 2019, Ramsey portrayed Lyanna Mormont in the HBO fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones. The part is Ramsey's first credited role. After her debut appearance in "The Broken Man", fans and critics noted Ramsey was a standout actress for portraying her character's no-nonsense leadership style. This reaction was repeated after her appearance in the season finale, with The Hollywood Reporter calling her "season 6's breakout star". Ramsey continued in the role for the series' seventh and eighth seasons.
Ramsey starred in the 2017 TV adaptation of The Worst Witch books, as the titular character, Mildred Hubble, and for which she won the Young Performer award at the 2019 British Academy Children's Awards. She announced on Instagram that she had left the series in 2020, with Mildred being recast as Lydia Page from the first episode of Series 4 onwards; incidentally, Page also trained at the Television Workshop in Nottingham.
Ramsey is also the titular character of the 2018 Netflix original series Hilda.
She is represented by actor's agency Conway van Gelder Grant.
