Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.39% of the population. The top two ancestry groups in the city were German and Ukrainian of the population. There were 355 households, out of which 34.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.1% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.8% were non-families. 31.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.09. In the city, the population was spread out, with 27.6% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older. Belfield is located between the junction of 2 major roadways, I-94 and U.S. Route 85. It is becoming greatly affected by the thriving oil activity in the area.
