Leadership

History

• 1991 — Creation of the Belarusian Social Democratic Assembly, with :be:Міхаіл Аляксандравіч Ткачоў|Mikhail Tkachow as a chairman.
• 1992 — :be:Алег Анатолевіч Трусаў|Aleh Trusau becomes party chairman.
• 1996 — Association with Social Democratic Party of Popular Accord, formation of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party.
• 1998 — Reconstruction of the Belarusian Social Democratic Assembly, Stanislav Shushkevich becomes chairman.
• 2016 — The party boycotts the 2016 Belarusian parliamentary elections.
• 2018 — Siarhei Cherachen becomes party chairman.

  Policies

• The party supports fairness and equality and that everyone has the right to a decent standard of living and greater economic opportunities.
• The party takes a stand against corruption among government officials and supporters who became rich and put their own interests ahead of principles of justice, equality and solidarity.
• The party also campaigns for human dignity, a high standard of living, health and education.
• The party was in favor of reducing the Russian language to the status of second state-language in Belarus.
