Bavdhan


Bavdhan is an upcoming, fast-growing suburb located along the western border of Pune city in Maharashtra, India. It is located off the Mumbai-Bangalore national highway, by-passing Pune city. Bavdhan road serves as the main approach road for Mumbai-Pune expressway and near Chandani Chowk. Bavdhan is bordered by Pashan in north, Bhugaon village on west, NDA reserved forest area in south and Kothrud in east.
Bavdhan consists of two parts - Bavdhan Khurd and Bavdhan Budruk, geographically as well as politically. The part of Bavdhan that lies east of Ramnadi river is called Bavdhan Khurd, and the remaining part lying to the west of Ramnadi river is called Bavdhan Budruk. Bavdhan Budruk is bigger area-wise but it falls under Gram Panchayat since it contains the main original Bavdhan village. Bavdhan Khurd has been incorporated into PMC in late 2000s. It is more developed and has better facilities and standard of living, and also boasts of slightly higher property rates than its Budruk counterpart.
Although Bavdhan is mostly a residential area, it is home to a significant number of software companies and IT parks like Kapil Zenith IT Park, Gallore Tech IT Park and many others scattered throughout the length and breadth of Bavdhan locality. It also boasts of educational institutes like PVPIT engineering college, Ambrosia Hotel Management Institute, RIIM, Suryadatta college etc.

Administration

Bavdhan is part of the Khadakwasla. It has two ward representatives in Pune Municipal Corporation.

Transportation

Bavdhan is well connected to Kothrud, Paud Road, Baner, Aundh, Pashan, University circle, Sus village via excellent roads. The Shivajinagar railway station is about 10 kms away, the Pune Junction Railway station is about 14 kms away and the Pune airport about 22 kms away. Direct buses are available from Bavdhan to PMC, University Circle, Hinjewadi, Pashan Circle, Kothrud, Karve road, Deccan Gymkhana, Marketyard and Pune Station.
