Bahirwali


The village of Baharwali is the largest village in Khed Taluka, which is part of the Ratnagiri district in the Konkan division of Maharashtra, India. The village is located near the banks of the Jugbudi and Vashishti rivers, about from Khed.
This village is divided into several localities: Baharwali No. 1, Baharwali No. 2, Baharwali No. 3, Baharwali Buddha Wadi, and Baharwali Kunbhi Wadi.

History

In the 15th century, the village was probably inhabited during the rule of Sultan Yousuf Adil Shah in the Konkan. The first settlement of Baharwali was on an island located at the centre of the Jugburi river called "Diva." As circumstances changed and the population grew, people started moving to the mainland opposite the island.

Government Organization

The Gram Panchayat is responsible for administrative and developmental work. It is headed by the Sarpanch of the village. The Gram Panchayat is now divided into two parts for better management.

Social and Developmental organization

The Village of Bahirwali No. 1, 2 and 3 are socially administered by each Jamat called "Jamatul Muslimeen Baharwali".

Festivals

The URS of Ibrahim Shaikh is celebrated every year during February. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Buddha Jayanti, Vijaya Rashmi, Sai Baba Utsav is on 19 May every year, Hanuman Jayanti, Mahashiv Ratri, Ganesh Utsav and Shimoga. There are temples of gram devata, Kuldevata Shri Khem - Manai.

Transport

State Transport 1st bus service at 5 am from Khed bus stand runs between Khed and Panhalje regularly along with rickshaw and car service. The City of Chiplun is much closer to Karmbawane village on the opposite side of the creek Vashishti than Khed City and is preferred by most Baharwalikars for their marketing, as this mode of marketing is the oldest. Kokan railway, from Mumbai to Khed and Mumbai to Anjani railway station is also much closer from the opposite side of Vashishti creek.
