Awaza

Awaza is a touristic zone in Turkmenistan. It is located at the east side of the Caspian Sea, 12 km west of Turkmenbashi city. The zone was commissioned by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, who sought to imitate Dubai's development boom. Turkmenistan's foreign ministry has touted Awaza as a "Turkmen Las Vegas" but foreign reports on the project have found that the accommodations are underutilized and hold little attraction apart from their sheer excess.
In May 2018, an industry conference was held in the resort, discussing the financing for the completion of the $8 billion natural gas TAPI pipeline.
