Arron Blake


Arron Blake is an English actor and director. He is best known for the film His Hands.
A graduate of The Poor School in London, Blake's directorial debut short film His Hands with Darius Shu premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2019, for which the film was nominated for Best Narrative Short.

Early life

Blake was born in the Isle of Wight, England. Blake worked as a carpenter before he pursued acting at The Poor School in London.

Career

In 2018, Blake together with cinematographer Darius Shu both co-directed, wrote, and produced His Hands, with Blake starring in the film. This was their directorial debut. His Hands had its world premiere at Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival 2019 in New York and was nominated for Best Narrative Short. It tells the story of two men meeting for the most unusual unanimity of their lives as it touches themes such as sexuality, loneliness, identity and ageism. The film made on a low budget of £400, with no dialogue delivery throughout the film and was deemed a cinematic masterpiece. The film is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and has received rave 5 star reviews from the public with critical acclaim.
In 2020, Blake starred in ITV's Breaking the Band, where he played lead singer Paul Stanley from the record breaking band Kiss which televised on REELZ channel in the United States.
Blake is set to co-direct his next film, A Peaceful Killing, with Darius Shu currently slated for a 2021 release.

Attitude magazine, reviewed Blake's film His Hands calling, "Blake and Shu cleverly make use of colours, images, ideas in place of speech, and the film has a unique energy all the better for it." Film Threat praised Blake's film His Hands as, "glorious cinematography, the precise editing, moody atmosphere, and impressive acting it is clear that a lot of effort went into the film." UK Film Review stated that there were splendid visual moments in His Hands as "The performances are really strong, Blake presents a formidable on screen presence that is loaded with palpable vigour."
The Advocate magazine said that, "Blake's menacing character engages in an intense ritual with the old man that includes donning stunning diamond earrings and black lipstick before the night turns even darker." Vulture Hound praised that his performance was, 'Beautifully realised'. HeyUGuys praised Blake's acting as "impressive, even with no lines, the story is clear to see." Indie Shorts Mag describe Blake's performance for his character in His Hands as '...sleek'.
Blake made his live television appearance in an interview on London Live after returning from Tribeca Film Festival.
