Antony Unwin


Antony Unwin is a German statistics professor, software developer, and author. Unwin works at the University of Augsburg in Germany, where he is known for being the first computer-oriented statistics professor. In 2007, he was made a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.

Work

Unwin is the author of numerous books and articles on data visualization. He has worked with Andrew Gelman, the applied statistics director at Columbia University. In January 2020, Unwin spoke out against the latest AIGA Design Census, saying, "it’s very disappointing. I would expect something better from such an august body." Unwin was the PhD advisor for Heike Hofmann, another statistician known for her work on data visualization.
