Andrei Nakov


Andrei Nakov, born in 1941 in Sofia, Bulgaria, is a French-Bulgarian art historian engaged principally in research on Russian non-objective art, Cubo-futurism, Dada and Constructivism, where his work as a precursor in these areas gained him an authoritative reputation.
He has published numerous theoretical studies, monographs and exhibition catalogues on the Russian avant-garde, Futurism, Dada, Constructivism, contemporary art and European abstract art.
Since the publication of his critical edition of the writings of Malewicz by Champ Libre, Paris 1975, he has engaged in research on the work of this artist and has published the four-volume Kazimir Malewicz le peintre absolu in April 2007. Part of this work's documentation comprising the catalogue raisonné of the artist's plastic work was published in 2002 under the title Kazimir Malewicz, Catalogue raisonné. In January 2016, for the fifth consecutive year Andrei Nakov gets Moral Rights over the work of Alexandra Exter.
