American Innovation and Competitiveness Act

The American Innovation and Competitiveness Act is a United States federal law enacted in 2017.
The act updated instructions to the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Standards and Technology to conduct and support research on cybersecurity and cryptography. It created a Director of Security at NIST. It revised the program requirements on the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development program which coordinates advanced computer research across U.S. government agencies. It assigned to the Office of Management and Budget a responsibility to create an interagency working group to reduce administrative burdens on federally-funded researchers.
The act authorizes creation of an interagency advisory panel and working groups to consider education for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.
