Ambedkar Nagar (Lok Sabha constituency)


Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. This constituency came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of delimitation of parliamentary constituencies based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002. There were great personalities from this district. Ex Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, BSP Supremo Ku. Mayawati won for the 3 times and hold the seat as a Member of Parliament from 1998-2004. The great socialist political leader Dr Ram Manohar Lohia was also from this place. The great freedom fighter Shri Jai Ram Verma, called as 'Purvanchal Ke Gandhi', was also from this constituency.

Presently, Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha constituency comprises five Vidhan Sabha segments. These are:

  2. Katehari
  3. Tanda
  4. Jalalpur
  5. Akbarpur
Katehari, Tanda, Jalalpur and Akbarpur assembly segments were earlier in erstwhile Akbarpur Lok Sabha constituency.
