Akuapim South Municipal District


The Akuapim South Municipal District is one of the 21 districts of the Eastern Region of south Ghana. Its capital is Nsawam. The district was upgraded from an ordinary district to a municipality in February 2008.

Geography

Akuapim South Municipality lies in the southwestern part of the Eastern Region. It borders Suhum-Kraboa Coaltar in the northwest, and Akuapim North District in the northeast. It covers an area of.

Topography

It has an undulating topography with two main ecological zones, the moist semi-deciduous forest and coastal savannah grassland. The district is dependent on the river Densu for water supply at the Akuapim South municipal water treatment plant.
