Ahmad Nabil al-Alam


Ahmed Nabil Elalam is the president of the Libyan Olympic Committee.

Biography

Education

A holder of three master's degrees, in mechanical engineering/manufacturing technology, biomechanics/teaching and coaching judo, and mechanical engineering/solid mechanics

Academic career

He was a lecturer at the University of Tripoli, giving lectures on mechanical and industrial engineering.

Sport career

He was president of the Libyan Judo Federation from 2005 to 2013.
Elalam was the coach of the Libyan and Malaysian judo teams during the 1990s. He also served as head of the Libyan Football Association national teams department during the reign of Muammar Gaddafi. Mohammed Gaddafi was al-Alam's predecessor as Olympic Committee president.
He was the head of African Judo Union.

al-Alam was kidnapped on 15 July 2012 in central Tripoli. He was freed on 22 July 2012.
