Agios Stefanos railway station


Agios Stefanos railway station is a railway station in Agios Stefanos, Athens, Greece. The station reopened on 6 May 2005. It has two platforms. It is owned by OSE, but service are provided by TrainOSE, through Proastiakos from Athens to Chalcis.

History

In the early years, the station was known under the name Bogiati or Vogiati, which derived from a common name of the settlement of Agios Stefanos. It was renamed to Oion and changed again to its current name in 2006. The station was reopened on 6 May 2005.

Service

The station is served by Proastiakos, with frequent services to Athens Central Station, Oinoi and Chalcis.

Popular culture

Agios Stefanos station was the cinematic setting for "Thymaria train station" in the 1954 Greek film Neither Cat, Neither Lost, starring Vassilis Logothetidis.

Future

An extension of Athens Metro Line 1, from Kifisia to Agios Stefanos, has been proposed.
