Afsaneh Mashayekhi Beschloss


Afsaneh Mashayekhi Beschloss is an American businesswoman, entrepreneur and economist. She is the CEO of RockCreek, a leading global investment firm that applies technology and innovation to investments, which she founded in 2003. She is a member of the board of trustees of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, broadcaster PBS, the American Red Cross, the World Resources Institute and former Board Chair of the World Wide Web Foundation. Beschloss is the former chair of the Investment Committee of the Ford Foundation and was on the Investment Committee of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. She was a member of the board of trustees of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Urban Institute.

Education

Beschloss received M.Phil. in Economics from St Antony's College, Oxford.

Career

Beschloss taught international economics at Oxford, then worked at J.P. Morgan and World Bank, of which she became a treasurer and chief investment officer. She then became a managing director and partner of the Carlyle Group and president of Carlyle Asset Management before starting her own firm. She is a former member of the board of directors of Temple-Inland, and of the commercial property firm AMB Property Corporation. She is the co-author of The Economics of Natural Gas and has written numerous journal articles. She advises governments, central banks and regulatory agencies on public and financial policy.

Personal life

Beschloss is married to presidential historian Michael Beschloss.
