Aeotec

Aeotec Group GmbH is a home automation and electronics company based in Hamburg, Germany known as Aeotec. It had previously been known as Aeon Labs and had been headquartered in Silicon Valley, California.
As a company, Aeotec's core focus is on the development and sale of automation software and accessories which utilise the Z-Wave communications protocol, a technology to which Aeotec owns the European rights. Its product offering is available from the group's own brand, Aeotec, and as white labelled goods in over 80 countries globally and include Z-Wave interpretations of motion sensors, thermometers, remotes, key fobs, and wall switches.

Partnerships

Under its own brand name of Aeotec and former brand name ‘’Aeon Labs’’, the group have developed their home automation accessories released between 2015 and 2020 upon a customised Z-Wave Plus platform dubbed Gen5. Prior to 2015 Aeotec had utilised older versions of the Z-Wave SDK while a Gen7 successor has been announced, but not released, for 2020 onwards. These own-brand products have been designed to work with Z-Wave controllers such as Samsung's SmartThings and Wink along with the group's own controller AutoPilot.
Despite having their own established brand names, Aeotec has operated for many years as an original equipment manufacturer. That has seen them announce partnerships with multiple solutions providers including Alarm.com, ADT, AT&T, Huawei, for whom they are a core connected home accessory provider, Orange S.A., and Telefónica.
