Adult-oriented pop music
Adult Oriented Pop Music is a term used in music radio programming. Although the specific composition of this genre of radio programming is debatable, it generally combines music selections from established formats such as Adult Contemporary, Hot Adult Contemporary, Contemporary Hit Radio, and Gold.
One subjective element of defining this term rests on the definition of an "Adult listener". This may vary depending on the radio station's view of where the adult market starts and ends. While one station may choose to consider an audience in the, for example, 16+, 18+, 25+ or 35+ age group as adult listeners, another station may consider that the ages of 55 or 65 represent a "natural audience parameter".
