Aba, ruler of Olba


Aba was a ruler of Olba in Ancient Anatolia.
She was the daughter of the tyrant Zenophanes of Olbia. Her father trained her in politics. She succeeded her father as tyrant-ruler of Olbia. It was uncommon for a woman to rule as tyrant. Aba is known for her diplomatic contacts with queen Cleopatra VII of Egypt and Marc Anthony. She was their ally during the Final War of the Roman Republic. She was deposed, but her descendants ruled over Olbia until it was incorporated in to the Roman Empire.
