A. K. M. Bahauddin


A. K. M. Bahauddin ' is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the incumbent Member of Parliament from Comilla-6. He is a freedom fighter and the founder president of Cumilla Mohanagar Awami League.

Early life

Bahauddin was born on 19 May 1954. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Comilla Victoria Government College. His father Abdus Salam was a headmaster of Cumilla high School and mother Azizunnesa was a home maker. His uncle Abdus Momin was a former MLA from Muslim League.
His birthplace and residence is Munsefbari in Cumilla city.
His brother A K M Salehuddin, A K M Moinuddin and A K M Qutubuddin were freedom fighters. His brother A K M Moinuddin was a former airforce official and was assassinated by military coup during the reign of Colonel Ziaur Rahman.
His Cousin brother A K M Hasan Uz Zaman was an army officer and the son of former MLA Md.Momin.
Local hearsay states one of Bahar's uncle Abdul Matin was a saint or Darvish. His grave is situated just beside the local mosque at Munsefbari.
He is the father of three daughters named Tahseen Bahar, Ayman Bahar and Aziza Bahar. His first daughter Tahseen Bahar is active in politics.

Career

Bahauddin was elected as Chairman of former cumilla municipality twice at his very early age. In that time he gained popularity and got the nomination for nation election from his party but failed to overcome.
After a decade he was elected as a member of parliament in 2008.
Bahauddin was elected to parliament from Cumilla-6 in 2014 again as a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League. Again 2019 he elected as a parliament member from cumilla-6 constituency.
As a member of parliament he had done many things to develop the infrastructure of his constituency and his city as well. He is the moulder of Cumilla City Corporation. On 15 October 2014, he sued three staff members of Independent TV and its owner Salman F Rahman. He filed a case over a report on 29 September 2014 titled Several ministers, MPs patrons of BNP-Jamaat misdeeds. Members of the Bangladesh Awami League secretariat called for official action against him over his role in the Comilla City Corporation poll.
