22 Scorpii


22 Scorpii is a single star in the southern zodiac constellation of Scorpius. It is faintly visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of 4.78. The distance to this star can be estimated from its annual parallax shift of, which yields a value of around 410 light years. The star is embedded in, or adjacent to, a diffuse nebulous cloud.
This is a B-type main-sequence star with a stellar classification of B3 V. It is ten million years old and has a high rate of spin with a projected rotational velocity of 169 km/s. The star has about six times the mass of the Sun and is radiating 335 times the Sun's luminosity from its photosphere at an effective temperature of 19,600 K.
