2020 United States presidential election in Alaska

The 2020 United States presidential election in Alaska is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, as part of the 2020 United States elections in which all 50 states plus the District of Columbia will participate. Alaska voters will choose electors to represent them in the Electoral College via a popular vote. The state of Alaska has 3 electoral votes in the Electoral College.
By the time that the primary elections were held in Alaska in April 10, 2020, incumbent President Donald Trump was already the Republican Party's presumptive nominee, being the only viable declared major candidate left. On the Democratic Party's side, former Vice President Joe Biden became the presumptive nominee on April 8, 2020 after Senator Bernie Sanders dropped out. The Libertarian Party, which received over 5% of the vote in 2016, has nominated Jo Jorgensen.

Primary elections

Canceled Republican primary

On September 21, 2019, the Alaska Republican Party became one of several state GOP parties to officially cancel their respective primaries and caucuses. Donald Trump's re-election campaign and GOP officials have cited the fact that Republicans canceled several state primaries when George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush sought a second term in 1992 and 2004, respectively; and Democrats scrapped some of their primaries when Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were seeking reelection in 1996 and 2012, respectively.
The state party will still formally conduct the higher meetings in their walking subcaucus-type delegate selection system. The district conventions were held on the four consecutive Saturdays in February 2020 to select delegates to the Alaska State Republican Convention. The state convention will then be held in early April 2020 to select and bind their 29 pledged delegates to the national convention.

Democratic primary

The Alaska Democratic primary was originally scheduled for April 4, 2020. On March 23, due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alaska Democratic Party canceled in-person voting, but extended mail-in voting to April 10.
