2019 Mutua Madrid Open
The 2019 Madrid Open was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts at the Park Manzanares in Madrid, Spain from 3–12 May 2019. It will be the 18th edition of the event on the ATP World Tour and 11th on the WTA Tour. It is classified as an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the 2019 ATP World Tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the 2019 WTA Tour. This event was the final professional tennis tournament for Spanish player David Ferrer, who received a wildcard into the singles draw.
Ion Țiriac, the event owner, announced in April 2019 that he has extended his sponsorship contract of the Mutua Madrid Open for 10 additional years, until 2031. Because he agreed to continue in Madrid, Țiriac will receive more than 30 million euros from the city of Madrid in the coming years.
