2018 Perak state election


The 14th Perak State election was held on 9 May 2018. The previous state election was held on 5 May 2013. Each of the state assemblymen are elected to a five year term each.
The Perak State Legislative Assembly automatically dissolved on 28 June 2018, the fifth anniversary of the first sitting, and elections were required to be held within sixty days of the dissolution, unless dissolved prior to that date by the Head of State on the advice of the Head of Government.

Contenders

contested all 59 seats in Perak State Legislative Assembly. Barisan Nasional linchpin party United Malays National Organisation contested a major share of Barisan Nasional seats.
Pakatan Harapan also contested all 59 seats in Perak with Democratic Action Party was largest contested 18 seats while National Trust Party contested 13 seats and both People's Justice Party and the Malaysian United Indigenous Party contested 14 seats each. Pakatan Harapan will use PKR logo as its logo for election.
Gagasan Sejahtera contested all 56 seats in Perak. Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party competed for 43 seats. The remaining 16 seats were distributed to Parti Cinta Malaysia.
Parti Sosialis Malaysia will contest 5 seats in Buntong, Jelapang, Menglembu, Tronoh and Malim Nawar.

The 14th General Election witnessed 29 governmental seats and 30 non-governmental seats filled the Perak State Legislative Assembly. The government side has 18 safe seat and 1 fairly safe seat. However, none of the non-government side has safe and fairly safe seat.
