2009–10 Gateshead F.C. season
The 2009–10 season was Gateshead's first season in the Conference National since the 1997–98 season and their twelfth at this level in total.
Gateshead initially avoided relegation on goal difference after finishing the season in 20th position, but this was increased to two points when 12th placed Salisbury City were relegated to the Southern League Premier Division.

- 10 June 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of striker Steven Richardson from Durham City.
- 15 June 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of defender Chris Swailes from Hamilton Academical & goalkeeper Paul Farman from Blyth Spartans.
- 23 June 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of defender Mark Robinson from York City.
- 26 June 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of midfielder Martin Brittain from Kidderminster Harriers.
- 29 July 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of striker Darren Forsyth from Bray Wanderers, midfielder Neale McDermott from R.A.A. Louviéroise and defender Phil Cave from Livingston.
- 3 August 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of striker Michael Mackay from Hartlepool United on loan for 6 months.
- 5 August 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of midfielder Christoph Ascherl.
- 18 August 2009: Gateshead win their first point of the season after a 1–1 draw at home to Tamworth.
- 22 August 2009: Gateshead win their first game of the season 4–1 away at Crawley Town.
- 28 August 2009: Gateshead announced they had signed defender Darren Williams, but the deal was called off as Williams still harboured hopes of a return to the professional ranks and would have been unable to do so until January, even if joining the club on a non-contract basis.
- 1 September 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of striker Armand Oné after his release from Livingston.
- 5 September 2009: Gateshead's match against Hayes & Yeading United was abandoned after 76 minutes due to a serious injury to Martin Brittain.
- 12 September 2009: Gateshead win their first home game of the season 2–1 against Salisbury City.
- 16 September 2009: Gateshead announce their intentions to field a reserve team in The Central League in the 2010–11 season.
- 26 September 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of defender Darren Williams.
- 9 October 2009: Gateshead are docked 1 point by The Football Conference for a breach of Rule 8.6 – "failing to fulfil an engagement", following the abandonment of the league game against Hayes & Yeading United.
- 13 October 2009: Gateshead announce that it will switch to a full-time club with a professional squad from the beginning of the 2010–11 campaign.
- 15 October 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of striker Daryl Clare on loan from Mansfield Town.
- 16 October 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of winger/striker Peter Winn on loan from Scunthorpe United.
- 28 October 2009: Gateshead unveil plans for a new 9,000 capacity stadium to be built in Gateshead town centre.
- 2 November 2009: Goalkeeper Paul Farman named Blue Square Premier Player of the Month.
- 13 November 2009: Gateshead announce the signing of midfielder Andy Haworth on loan from Blackburn Rovers.
- 26 November 2009: Gateshead announce the signings of midfielder Clark Keltie & striker Jon Shaw, both on loan from Rochdale.
- 28 November 2009: Defender James Curtis made his 300th appearance for Gateshead in the 2–1 win at home to Crawley Town.
- 8 January 2010: Gateshead announce the signing of striker Daryl Clare from Mansfield Town.
- 15 January 2010: Gateshead announce the signing of defender Rikki Bains on loan from Darlington.
- 26 January 2010: Gateshead announce the signings of midfielder James Sinclair on non-contract terms and striker Brian Wake from Greenock Morton.
- 1 February 2010: Gateshead announce the signing of midfielder Andy Ferrell on a one-and-a-half year deal from York City as well as the loan signings of winger Peter Winn from Scunthorpe United and defender Paul Heckingbottom from Mansfield Town until the end of the season. Gateshead also release midfielder Jamie Harwood and striker Darren Forsyth.
- 5 February 2010: Defender Wayne Buchanan signs initially until the end of the season.
- 16 February 2010: Gateshead announce the signing of midfielder Andy Parkinson. Gateshead also release defender Darren Williams.
- 16 March 2010: Gateshead announce the loan signing of midfielder Gavin Hurren from Tamworth.
- 6 May 2010: Gateshead announce their retained list for next season, releasing nine players.
