2005–06 Primera División A season

Changes for the 2005–06 season

• Chivas La Piedad moved from La Piedad to Tepic and changed its name to Chivas Coras.
• Celaya moved to Salamanca and changed its name to Petroleros de Salamanca.
• Mérida F.C. was acquired by new owners, for that reason the team was moved to Irapuato and its name was changed to Club Irapuato.
• Pachuca Juniors was moved to Ciudad Juárez and its name was changed to Indios.
• Pioneros de Obregón moved to Tijuana.
• Potros Neza was moved to Tampico and its name was changed to Tampico Madero.
• Académicos de Atlas was promoted from Second Division, the club was renamed to Coyotes de Sonora and re-located to Hermosillo, Sonora.
• Huracanes de Colima was acquired by Televisa, the team was moved to Playa del Carmen and its name was changed to Águilas Riviera Maya. At the end of the Apertura tournament, the team was relocated to Zacatepec as a result of Hurricane Wilma impact. From the Clausura tournament, the team was renamed as Club Zacatepec.
• Rayados A and Tigres Mochis new teams.
