1996 Australian Open – Women's Singles


First-seeded Monica Seles won the title, defeating Anke Huber in the final to win the Women's Singles tennis title at the 1996 Australian Open. This would be Seles' first and only Grand Slam tournament victory after her stabbing.
Mary Pierce was the defending champion, but lost to Elena Likhovtseva in the second round.
