Promotion and relegation

In the seventeenth season of the Northern Premier League Stafford Rangers were automatically promoted to the Alliance Premier League; they replaced relegated Gateshead, who swapped Leagues with them. Meanwhile, Grantham moved to the Southern League Midland Division at the end of the season and were replaced by newly admitted Caernarfon Town.
