1972 French Open – Men's Singles


Sixth-seeded Andrés Gimeno defeated Patrick Proisy 4–6, 6–3, 6–1, 6–1 in the final to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 1972 French Open. This was his first and only grand slam title and, at the age of 34, he became the oldest first-time grand slam champion in the open era. Jan Kodes was the two-time defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Patrick Proisy.
