1953 New Jersey state highway renumbering

On January 1, 1953, the New Jersey Highway Department renumbered many of the State Routes. This renumbering was first proposed in 1951 in order to reduce confusion to motorists. A few rules were followed in deciding what to renumber:
New numbers assigned semi-arbitrarily included 15 and 20, the sequence from 57 to 93, and 152 to 165 for minor routes.
In the table, S routes is shown with the S after the number for sorting reasons.
