Album Information

“1,000 Hours” is a song that Billie Joe wrote when he was infuriated with his best friend’s sister, Jennifer, but because he just wanted to fall in love with her, but Jennifer didn’t want to put up with a younger and inexperienced guy, but Armstrong was ready for it, so he expressed it into a song. “Dry Ice” is another one of those songs, but instead about Armstrong’s best friend’s sister. He is deeply in love with her, keeps dreaming of her, but he doesn't know if she feels the same way. He doesn't find enough courage in himself to write her a letter, his pen is "writing wrong" and he decides to express his feelings in a song, hoping that she will hear him and understand how much he really needs her.
“Only of You” is a song about love at first sight. The narrator lost sleep because of this person he is so surprised by. He's only seen them once, but it was enough to cause these love-filled thoughts to take over him. They are only friends and he doesn't dare tell them his inside thoughts - all he can do is hope that this wonderful infatuation never ends, and keep dreaming of arousing the same feelings in the one he loves. “The One I Want” is most likely another song inspired by the author's feelings towards his best friend's sister. In this song he mentions that she already knows how he feels about her, and so he's wondering why they are still not together and finds no reasons - she made him feel this way, and now she's the only one that he wants. He believes that this love he feels towards this girl will never end.
Also, all of these tracks were included on the compilation album, “1,039/ Smoothed out Slappy Hours,” which includes Green Day’s debut LP, “39/Smooth,” as well as their second release and EP, “Slappy.”
And with that, the 2 EPs have also been back in print as a bonus to the vinyl reissue of the 39/Smooth album since May 24, 2009, although now the Slappy EP has been tainted pink instead of its original dark red.
